PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a conjugated diene polymer having controlled micro-structure in high polymerization activity by using a catalyst system containing a metallocene complex of a compound of a group 5 transition metal of the periodic table. SOLUTION: The objective catalyst is derived from (A) a metallocene complex of a compound of a group 5 transition metal of the periodic table, (B) an ionic compound of a non-coordinating anion and a cation, (C) an organic aluminum compound, (D) water and (E) a compound having at least one polar group. A conjugated diene compound is polymerized by using the catalyst.
