PURPOSE: An apparatus for sensing unbalance and horizontal states of a washing machine, a method for notifying the horizontal state and a method for controlling the unbalance state of the washing machine are provided to stably operate the washing machine by checking the horizontal and unbalance states of the washing machine. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for sensing unbalance and horizontal states of a washing machine comprises a case(50) having a predetermined space therein. One side of the case(50) is openable. An inclination portion is installed in the predetermined space. A bottom of the inclination portion is inclined by a predetermined angle. A coil portion(53) having an intrinsic inductance is installed at an outer surface of the case(50). A sliding member is provided to vary the inductance of the coil portion(53). The sliding member is inserted into the case(50) and moved up, down, left and right directions.
