PURPOSE: A shadow mask frame assembly for a planar cathode ray tube is provided to improve a support force of a shadow mask and a frame, regularly apply a tension force to the shadow mask, and magnify a defective area. CONSTITUTION: A shadow mask frame assembly for a planar cathode ray tube comprises a frame(30) having a support member(31, 32) and an elastic member(33, 34), and a shadow mask forming a plurality of slits which apply a tension force to the first and the second support members(31, 32). The first and second support members(31, 32) are parallel to each other. The first and the second support members(31, 32) form an incline plane(37) at the point fixed with the shadow mask(40). The incline plane(37) individually formed in the first and the second support members(31, 32) is formed in the opposite direction to each other.
