REMAINING CHARGE DISCHARGE DEVICE FOR USE IN ACTIVE MATRIX DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A remaining charge discharge device is provided to improve a write speed by inputting data after previously discharging a remaining charge by a parasitic capacitance at a data input electrode. CONSTITUTION: The remaining charge discharge device comprises a vertical shift register(12) which sequentially inputs a driving signal to a driving electrode of each cell formed on a backlight unit(10). A horizontal shift register(13) sequentially input a data signal to a data input electrode of the cell. A data generator(14) supplies a data value to a data input electrode of the cell. A data selection switch(15) selects an input electrode of data to be written from the data generator to the cell. A discharge switch(16) discharges a remaining charge at the data input electrode during a period of time when a horizontal selection signal is not selected. A signal generation controller(17) control a driving signal to be applied to the discharge switch(16).
