PURPOSE: A device for controlling caption display of a Korean character caption broadcasting is provided to select one of four caption display methods according to a caption display control code, and to display captions in a corresponding mode, then to display captions corresponding to a video, so as to improve caption readability. CONSTITUTION: If a Korean character caption code receiver(121) separately receives a Korean character caption code from video signals, a caption display selector(122) decides a corresponding mode in accordance with the Korean character caption code, among 4 caption display modes, to decode corresponding data to output the decoded data to a caption editor(123). The caption editor(123) edits the data according to the corresponding caption display mode, and outputs a character code and a control code to a caption display(124). The caption display(124) modulates the character code and the control code according to a corresponding signal, and outputs the modulated codes to a video synthesizer. The character code and the control code are synthesized with the video data.
