PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display are provided which minimize voltage drop in scanning electrode lines and signal electrode lines to apply more stabilized voltage to liquid crystal cells, thereby preventing crosstalk between neighboring pixels and proving better picture quality. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display panel(21), constructed in such a manner that signal electrode lines are arranged in parallel on liquid crystal cells, and scanning electrode lines are arranged in parallel under the liquid crystal cells, being perpendicular to the signal electrode lines, includes a segment driving unit(22), a modulation signal generator(231) and a common driving unit(232). The segment driving unit puts an input data signal(DATA) in a standby state on the signal electrode lines according to a shift clock signal(SCK) and applies signal voltage corresponding to the data signal in the standby state to the signal electrode lines in response to a latch clock signal(LCK). The modulation signal generator divides the frequency of the latch clock signal to generate a modulation signal that controls the polarity of the output voltage of the segment driving unit and the common driving unit. The common driving unit sequentially applies corresponding scanning voltage values to the scanning electrode lines under the control of the latch clock signal, a frame signal and the modulation signal. |
