PURPOSE: A power supply apparatus is provided to minimize power consumption by effectively controlling a power supplied to a defrosting heater. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a power unit(30) for supplying an AC power; a diode(35) for half-wave rectifying the AC power and supplying the half-wave rectified power to a defrosting heater(40); the defrosting heater for taking as an input the half-wave rectified power supplied from the diode and radiating heat; and a switch(45) for switching on/off the power being supplied to the defrosting heater. Thus-structured power supply apparatus half-wave rectifies the AC power being supplied to the defrosting heater, by using the diode arranged at a front end of the defrosting heater. Since the half-wave rectified power is supplied to the heater, the voltage and the current flowing at both ends of the heater decrease half or less, thus decreasing heat volume of the heater. Accordingly, the highest temperature of the heater lowered, to thereby reduce evaporation of the defrost water.
