PURPOSE: An optical disk recording/reproducing device employing a recording prevention function therein is provided to install a switch between a signal processor and an ATIP(Absolute Time In Pre-groove) decoder, and to turn off the switch when the recording prevention function is applied, not to transmit a signal obtained from a pre-groove previously formed over entire tracks of an optical disk to the ATIP decoder. CONSTITUTION: An EFM(Eight to Fourteen Modulation) decoder(26) is picked up in an optical disk, and decodes an EFM signal to perform an error correction. An EFM encoder(28) encodes data received from a host to an EFM signal in accordance with an optical disk format. An ATIP decoder(29) decodes a signal obtained from a pre-groove previously formed over entire tracks of the optical disk, to obtain basic disk information. A signal processor(18) signal-processes a picked signal during data reproduction, to transmit a playback signal to the EFM decoder(26), and processes a signal picked by the pre-groove, to transmit the processed signal to the ATIP decoder(29) as a basic disk information signal, then processes a signal transmitted from the EFM encoder(28) by a reverse process of a signal reading. The signal processor(18) applies the processed signal to a pickup. A switch(40) is located between the signal processor(18) and the ATIP decoder(29), and is turned on/off by a user selection.
