PURPOSE: A WLL(Wireless Local Loop) radio interface unit receiving system and a method for controlling receiving power are provided to improve the quality of service by maintaining the power of a signal received to a subscriber's telephone from a base station stably in accordance with standard requirements and to minimize cost required for communication service by maximizing the number of subscriber terminals the base station can manage. CONSTITUTION: A processor(50) generates and outputs a digital control signal according to a receiving amplification signal(CTL) and an output amplification control signal(RXAGC) according to a channel error signal(CHER), a frame error signal(FRER) and a receiving strength signal(RSSI). A modem(60) receives the digital control signal and generates and outputs an analog-converted amplification control signal(RX_CNTL). A signal processing part(70) modulates a signal received through an antenna(ANT), amplifies the signal according to the amplification control signal(RX_CNTL), converts it into I signal(RX_I) and Q signal(RX_Q) of baseband, amplifies and outputs the signals according to the output amplification control signal(RXAGC) again.
