PURPOSE: A power control circuit of LCD is provided to automatically discriminate a data enable signal and a vertical synchronous signal to apply a voltage to a panel only when a control signal is normally input, thereby saving unnecessary power consumption and protecting a LCD module. CONSTITUTION: The power control circuit of LCD comprises a data enable signal discriminator(100), a vertical synchronous signal discriminator(200), a control signal generator(300) and a power ON/OFF selector(400). The data enable signal discriminator(100) discriminates the state of a data enable signal(DE) input as a control signal in a DE only mode. The vertical synchronous signal discriminator(200) discriminates the state of a vertical synchronous signal(Vsync) input as a control signal in a dual mode. The control signal generator(300) receives the output signals of the discriminators(100,200) to represent the states of the signals(DE,Vsync). The power ON/OFF selector(400) generates a signal for controlling ON/OFF in accordance with the output signal of the generator(300).
