PURPOSE: An image signal input device of a liquid crystal display device is provided to include a controller IC allowing compatibility of the bit number in an image signal. CONSTITUTION: In an image signal input device of a liquid crystal display device, a device for processing an external video signal receives a digital image signal transmitted from the broadcasting station. A controller IC receives a digital image signal from the device for processing the external video signal and outputs the digital image signal at an appropriate timing. A drive IC analogizes the digital image signal output from the controller IC. When six bits of signal inputs to the controller IC, a mode converter(13a) outputs the six bits of signal as eight bits of signal. A select terminal(14) carries out on/off operation of the mode converter selectively whether the bit number of the digital image signal in the device for processing the external video signal is six bits or eight bits.
