PURPOSE: A method for detecting call connection according to encoding rates is provided to detect an encoding rate after call origination in a system wherein encoding rates are differently set up according to the existence of sound source, and to check a time receiving the encoding rate to determine the connection state of a speech path after the call origination, thereby detecting the connection state of the speech path after call origination without additional equipments. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether an encoding rate indicating the existence of sound source for a predetermined time after call origination is received. If the encoding rate is received over the predetermined time, the controller checks whether an encoding rate indicating the non-existence of sound source after the predetermined time. If the encoding rate is received, the controller outputs a busy state message.
