PURPOSE: A device for improving a contour of a chrominance signal boundary unit is provided so that visibility of a display device can be improved by compensating for the contour of the chrominance signal boundary unit. CONSTITUTION: An average generator(10) detects a chrominance signal boundary unit, by receiving and sampling chrominance information of an image signal according to a current pixel, and composing a window, and calculates an average of current chrominance values. A window size generator(20) outputs maximum and minimum values of the window, by sampling chrominance data used to find values of a predetermined range according to the current chrominance value, and increases a window from a minimum size to a maximum size according to a window size signal. A chrominance generator(30) calculates a first chrominance signal which corresponds to a difference between an output from a low pass filter and the average value, corrects the first chrominance signal according to a derivation gain signal, and detects whether the first chrominance signal is in the allowable range of the window size. When the chrominance signal is not in the allowable range, the chrominance generator(30) generates a new chrominance signal, by re-correcting the first chrominance signal.
