PURPOSE: A method for controlling a back light of a mobile wireless terminal is provided to control the back light and to control the operation of an optical sensor according to peripheral brightness, so as to prevent power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether a key is inputted or a flip cover is open(205). If not, the controller checks whether a calling message is received(210). If the flip cover is open or the calling message is received, the controller checks whether a present time is a day time or a night time(215). If the present time is the night time, an optical sensor measures a peripheral brightness to output the measured brightness to the controller(220). If the present time is the day time, the controller checks whether a user inputs an optional key to turn on a back light in a dark place in the day time(225). If so, the optical sensor performs the operation of the step '220'. If the key is not inputted, the controller re-performs the operation of the step '205'. The controller checks whether the peripheral brightness is under a critical level(230). If so, the controller turns on the back light(240). If the brightness is over the critical level, the controller does not operate the optical sensor, and checks whether a new key is inputted(235). The controller controls the optical sensor according to the peripheral brightness. |
