PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier rib forming resin composition element capable of shortening a barrier rib manufacturing process of a plasma display panel and forming a barrier rib having an excellent shape and a manufacturing method for a barrier rib capable of shortening a barrier rib manufacturing process of a plasma display panel and forming a barrier rib having an excellent shape. SOLUTION: A base is provided with a barrier rib forming element having a barrier rib forming resin composition layer containing an organic material in which the content of an inorganic material and a compound with an average molecular weight of less than 1,000 is made not more than 10 wt.% and plural removable relief patterns on a supporting body film. The barrier forming element is laminated on the base so that the barrier rib forming resin composition layer is brought into contact with the base, and after the barrier forming resin composition layer is embedded in the gap of the plural relief patterns, a pattern of the barrier rib forming resin composition is formed on the base by removing the relief patterns, and the pattern is baked.
