PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-brightness discharge lamp having a plurality of light emission tubes equipped with a long lifetime and a reduced dispersion of the color temperature, requiring a short restarting time. SOLUTION: A plurality of light emission tubes 100 are accommodated in respective inner tubes 200. The light emission tubes 100 contain different gases, etc., to have different starting characteristics. Thus the same light emission tubes are lighted up at all time so that dispersion of the color temperature is precluded. If necessary, inert gas such as nitrogen gas is encapsulated in the inner tubes 200 and outer tubes 300 so that electric discharge is prevented even in case leak is generated at any light emission tube, and thereby a long lifetime is ensured.
