PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character data generating device rapidly generating the character data of a character to be screen displayed based on the outline data. SOLUTION: To coordinates possible to be used for showing a vertex coordinate among the standard character data held in an outline data hold part 11, variable power processing is applied according to a display size obtained from a display device 2 to generate a table which is held in a variable power later coordinate hold part 13, and a character outline data conversion part 15 refers to this table, and converts the standard character outline data to the displaying character outline data. Further, the generation of the table is controlled by a control part 18 so as to performed only when the display size is changed. Thus, since an operation processing amount in the processing converting the standard character outline data to the displaying character outline data is reduced, the character data are generated rapidly.
