PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-generating pigment having high photosensitivity, good dispersion stability and wide spectral sensitivity range by incorporating two or more kinds of perylenes each expressed by a specified structural formula into a perylene mixture as a charge generating material. SOLUTION: The image forming member contains a perylene mixture as a charge generating material, and the mixture contains two or more kinds of symmetric perylenes expressed by formula I, asymmetric perylenes expressed by formula II, and asymmetric perylenes having terminal substituents R1, R2 different from each other expressed by formula III. In the formulae, each R is independent, R1 and R2 are different groups from each other, and each of R1 and R2 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl, cycloalkyl, oxalkyl, aryl, arylakyl group or the like, X is a symmetric crosslinked part and X-Y is an asymmetric crosslinked part. The mixture preferably contains 1,3-bis(n- pentylimidoperyleneimide) propane and 1,3-bis(2-methylbutylimidoperyleneimide) propane which is the isomer corresponding to the former.
