PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method capable of performing a desired material test arbitrarily by simple data input without directly setting the control program of a material tester corresponding to substantially all test patterns by an operator and the material tester suitable for use in this method. SOLUTION: A material tester 1 capable of giving and receiving data through an internet is connected to a server 2 storing the data related to a control method for a large number of material tests and the data is inputted in response to the input request of the required data displayed on the operation panel 13 of the material tester 1 by the command from the server 2 to be transmitted. By this constitution, the control program of the material tester 1 coinciding therewith is selected by the server 2 to be transmitted to the material tester 1 and the transmission content is loaded down to the material tester 1 to bring the material tester 1 to a state enabling an operator to perform a desired test.
