PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily multiplex information when it is required and to improve operability and functionality by dividing a first storage area into plural second areas in accordance with a first request from the external and executing a control so that supplied information is written into the respective second storage areas. SOLUTION: A CPU 15 in a hierarchial storage controller 2 generates specified media sets in a specified volume pool in accordance with a request from a client computer 19. When file data are given, the data are temporarily stored in RAID units 18 and the data are recorded into jukes 3 to 5, which incorporate removable media corresponding to media sets that are set with a prescribed timing, for multiplexing. Thus, multiplexing and backup of file data are easily conducted when they are required. |
