PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide color image forming device capable of detecting the position of a regist pattern highly accurately, correcting positional deviation accurately, and realizing an image of high print quality at a low price. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a pattern detection means for detecting regist patterns 21a and 21b on a transfer means, and a positional deviation correction means for correcting positional deviation on the basis of a result detected by the pattern detection means 14a, the pattern detection means 14a comprising a semiconductor laser 25 which emits a laser beam to the regist patterns and a photosensor which detects light reflected from the transfer means. A rear plate 13a is configured so as to contact the rear face of the transfer medium only in the vicinity of the position where the laser beam is emitted to the surface of the transfer medium.
