METHOD FOR RECORDING DIGITAL DATA STREAM, AND GENERATING AND RECORDING MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

PURPOSE: A method for recording a digital data stream and generating and recording management information are provided so that a recording operation can be completely performed without padding unwanted data. CONSTITUTION: Firstly, transmission units of a received digital data stream are sequentially recorded at a predetermined recording size on a disc recording medium such as a digital versatile disc. Management information for searching and managing the recorded transmission units is generated and recorded. In detail, header information is generated correspondingly to the transmission units of the received data stream. The generated header information is recorded adjacently to the corresponding transmission units. Thereafter, information for managing a number of the transmission units included in a single unit recording region is generated and recorded. Accordingly, a number of the transmission units actually recorded on the unit recording region such as a unit sector becomes identical to the management information managing the same. As a result, the recording operation is completely performed without padding unwanted data.
