FAULT NOTICE SYSTEM FOR DEVICE HAVING PROVISION FOR FC-AL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow each host device to quickly grasp a fault location and to enhance a fault recovery efficiency by broadcasting a fault notice frame including fault information from a magnetic disk device to all host devices on an FC-AL when the magnetic disk device detects its own internal fault and a loop fault so as to allow all the host devices on the FC-AL to recognize the fault. SOLUTION: In the case that the magnetic disk device 1-2 detects its own fault trough a device fault detection means, the magnetic disk device 1-2 transmits a fault notice frame 11 to all host devices through a broadcast transmission path 12. Each of the host devices 2-1 to 2-m is provided with a fault notice reception means that receives at least one of the fault notice frames 11 that are broadcast without fail. Each of the host devices 2-1 to 2-m receiving the fault notice frame 11 recognizes the occurrence of the device fault because a fault notice code of the received fault notice frame 11 is set to a device fault code and also identifies the magnetic disk device 1-2 in which the fault takes place.
