PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten integration time by changing an integration finish value and the gain of an amplifying means in accordance with the emitted light quantity of flash light necessary for focus detection. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a passive type automatic focusing(AF) sensor unit 21, a built-in flash device 71, and a main CPU 35 controlling the integration of the unit 21 and the light emission of the device 71. Then, the CPU 35 allows the CCD line sensor 211 of the unit 21 to start the integration while making the device 71 intermittently emit light, and raises the integration finish value by one step when the integrated value of the sensor 211 does not attain the integration finish value even when the device 71 is made to intermittently emit the light by specified number of times. When the integrated value does not attain even the integration finish value raised by one step, the CPU 35 repeatedly performs processing for raising the gain of the amplifying means 215 by one step every time the flash light is intermittently emitted by the specified number of times until the number of flash light emitting times attains the maximum one or the gain attains the maximum. |
