PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain suitability to portable equipment by reducing the consumption of electric power and permitting high-speed operation with simple constitution. SOLUTION: When a connector CN1 of a memory player 1 is inserted into a connector CN2 of a PC2 and connected therewith, a signal S1 supplied to a CPU 11 becomes 'L' to place a memory controller 12 in a write state. At this time, a voltage Vcc is supplied from the PC 2 and a supply voltage VDD to the CPU 11, memory controller 12, a memory 13, a decoder 14, a DAC 15, a headphone amplifier 16, etc., is set to a voltage which is higher than in reproduction. The memory controller 12 uses the voltage Vcc as the power source to write information supplied from the PC 2 to the memory 13. In reproduction, the connector CN1 is extracted from the connector CN2, thus the source voltage VDD drops to the output voltage of a DC/DC converter 17 to reduce the power consumption.
