PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SR linear motor which can reduce thrust ripples by hardly lowering its average thrust without changing the winding method of coils (windings), flowing method of currents, and so on. SOLUTION: In a stator 12 as the primary side of an SR linear motor 11, a primary-side pole is constituted of two sets of three-pole units 13. Each unit 13 has poles 13a-13c formed with regular pitch P. In addition, the units 13 are arranged so that the interval L between the poles 13c and 13a at the end sections of adjacent units 13 are different from the layout pitch (interval) P of the poles 13a-13c. The interval L is set, so that the interval L becomes (k) times (where k is a value satisfying 0<k<2 and excludes 1), as long as the pitch P, namely, L=kP. Coils 14 of each phase are connected in series and the same current flows to the U-, V-, and W-phases of each unit 13.
