PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling combustion in an incinerator capable of reducing carbon monoxide concentration of the whole incinerator and consequently reducing dioxin discharged therefrom. SOLUTION: In an incinerator 1, an image picked up by using a TV camera 2 installed right above a primary combustion zone 9 is subjected to image processing the fluctuation of carbon monoxide concentration in a secondary combustion zone 10 is predicted on the basis of an amount of brightness variation of the image obtained by the image processing, and the flow rate of gas supplied to the secondary combustion zone 10 is predictively controlled on the basis of the estimated value.
