PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the ion density in a liquid crystal display panel by a nondestructive method and to know the distribution of ion density in a liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: Flickers are observed by applying square waves of the frequency as low as 1 Hz (step S303). The amplitude of the observed flickers or the flicker area is measured (step S308). The ion density in the liquid crystal panel is calculated from the calibration curve preliminarily obtained (which shows the correlation between the amplitude or area of flickers and the ion density) (step S309).
