PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress uneven brightness inside a display region due to nonuniformity of a cell gap and lowering of contrast and brightness due to a noise electric field and to reduce generation of cross talk. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with columnar spacers SP in regions between video signal lines and counter electrodes, color filters FIL formed on a substrate SUB2, black matrices BM disposed between respective color filters, groups of electrodes DL, CT, PX formed on a substrate SUB1, a liquid crystal LC with dielectric anisotropy between the both substrate and alignment controlling layers ORI1, ORI2 to orient molecular alignment of the liquid crystal toward a specified direction. Driving of the liquid crystal by a noise electric field is prevented by adjusting electrical characteristics of the columnar spacers SP placed in locations hidden with the black matrices BM. A uniform cell gap is formed by making the columnar spacers SP contain solid particles or conductive particles so as to adjust mechanical and electrical characteristics. |
