PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents recording medium for recording charged contents correctly while preventing production of illegal duplicate and a contents recorder for recording information on the contents recording medium. SOLUTION: The contents recording medium comprises a contents area 2 for recording contents with write once light, a charging area 3 where the amount of charge for contents to be recorded in the contents area 2 is written with the write once light, and a total sum area 4 substantially invariant chemically for the once write light where the total sum of charge meaning an allowable limit for recording contents in the contents area 2 is recorded previously in the form of irregularities. Since the total sum of charge is recorded in the total sum area 4 in the form of irregularities, the contents can not be duplicated or altered easily. The contents are recorded when the sum of the accumulated charges in the charging area 3 and the amount of charge of the contents is lower than the total sum of the total sum area 4.
