PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which detects defects of a nozzle and an optical system to prompt execution of maintenance with a message. SOLUTION: The image forming device provided with a scanner 1 for image read and a print head part 14 for printing is provided with a test pattern image data storage ROM 7, where a test pattern is stored, and a picture processing part 12 which reads the printed test pattern by the scanner 1 and performs discrimination processing of this image data to diagnose defects of the print head part 14 and the scanner 1.
