摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device equipped with an optical writing type liquid crystal device having high optical writing sensitivity in which switching control for both directions of the liquid crystal is possible even in a panel structure having an insulating film having enough breakdown voltage. SOLUTION: A pair of substrates 11a, 11b are disposed facing each other at a specified distance in the optical writing liquid crystal device 1, and driving pulses which has an enough voltage to inverse the liquid crystal by a driving means 22 and enough long pulse width to allow the inner potential to an equilibrium state by inner discharge after inversion are applied on the transparent electrodes 12a, 12b formed on the transparent substrates 11a, 11b, respectively. The light irradiating means 21 to irradiate the optical writing liquid crystal device 1 with light for writing information is controlled by a controlling means 20 so that the light irradiating means 21 irradiates the device in the period after the inversion of the liquid crystal to the end of the driving pulse.
