PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image recorder which is simple in structure, realizes a beautiful color image, and is satisfactorily maintainable. SOLUTION: A whole group of developing units having toners of different colors is rotated, thereby moving each unit to the same developing position in sequence. In the developing position, the developing units 1Bk, 1C, 1M and 1Y develop images onto a photoreceptor 2 located opposite them and the toner images are transferred to an intermediate transfer belt 32 in sequence. A developing hopper in each developing unit is divided in a first hopper (14a) and a second hopper (14b), and configured so that the second hopper (14a) is located higher in the developing position. Also, a toner concentration sensor 60 and a switching mechanism for toner replenishment drive and operation stop are set on the main body side and controls toner replenishment. A photoreceptor 9 and the intermediate transfer belt 32 are in the form of a replaceable unit. |
