PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an object recognizing method and device whose operation quantity is small in the case of calculating the feature quantity of an object and which facilitates parameter setting for object identification, also reduces erroneous detection of an object that is easily shaken and can reduce an erroneous detection owing to shadows and reflection. SOLUTION: A reference area is preliminarily acquired in accordance with a distance from a camera, the area ratio of the reference area to a detected object is calculated, and the type of the object is discriminated by using the area ratio. Thus, an operation quantity can be reduced, and also when a human is detected, a parameter can easily be set because a feature quantity which becomes about 100% and is intuitively clear can be obtained. |
