PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sticking matter on a pressure roller from being unremoved and left at the beginning of energization start, by continuing energization of a heating body or rotation of the pressure member, until the surface temperature of the rotary body reaches the melting point of the developer. SOLUTION: When the detected temperature of a thermistor 11, after paper for a single print or the last paper for plural prints, in ejected from a fixing device is lower than a prescribed temperature, heater energization power is controlled so as to increase the temperature of the heater 3, and according to information on a thermistor 6, the temperature of the thermister 6 is finally adjusted so that a specific temperature is kept constant. Also, backward rotation is made at a speed higher than an ordinary one, and the control is continued until the detected temperature exceeds the temperature set. Therefore, even in a time period during which a developer ordinarily sticking to the surface of a pressure member hardens and remains unremoved before reaching a rotary body, the developer which melted on the rotary body is securely transferred and the pressure member can be kept clean.
