PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable gain amplifier whose gain can be varied over a wide range and a broadband, without the need for a multi-stage configuration. SOLUTION: This variable gain amplifier is provided with a signal amplifying transistor(TR) 7, gain control TRs 6, 10, a load resistor 14 connected between a collector of the gain control TR 10 and a power supply 1, a capacitor 15 connected between the collector and a ground 9 and also with a low-pass filter that reduces high frequency noise.
