PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manganese dry cell equipped with an enhanced storing performance by reducing the rate of unacceptable appearance resulting from outflow of a sealant. SOLUTION: The open end of a zinc can 4 to whose upper inner wall a sealant 5 is applied, is sealed by a seal body 3 furnished in the center with a cylindrical part to admit insertion of a carbon rod and at the periphery with an outer cylindrical part contacting with the zinc can, and the top of this outer cylindrical part is fastened by the periphery of a positive electrode terminal board 2 combined with the seal body 3 and a bent part at the open end of the zinc can. In this manganese dry cell, a ring-shaped groove 10 is provided at the side face of the outer cylindrical part of the seal body 3. It is preferable that the outside diameter of the above outer cylindrical part is smaller in the part below the groove 10 than above the groove.
