The separation is provided by a toothed blade (1) that cuts the paper strip (9) after it has been delivered through guides (3,4,5). The blade is well clear of the opening (10,11) where the paper is delivered. The guides bend the paper strip so that it is bent in an acute angle over the edge of the blade where it is to be cut.
