PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the user-friendliness by extending the call area of a mobile radio terminal. SOLUTION: The mobile radio terminal is provided with a channel quality estimating section 1-8 that monitors the error status of a received frame for estimating the status of channels and with a voice quality improving section 1-9 that conducts prescribed processing, on the basis of the estimate result by the channel quality estimate section 1-8 to improve the voice quality. When the channel quality estimating section 1-8 discriminates that the terminal is located outside of a communication zone, the voice quality improvement section 1-9 is controlled so as to output only the noise. When the channel quality estimate section 1-8 discriminates that the terminal is resident around the outside of the communication zone, the voice quality improvement section 1-9 is controlled to output a signal with a background noise superimposed thereon. Strong error correction is applied only to control data of a transmitted frame, and the terminal can be controllable even on the verge of the out-zone where data cannot received correctly be and no reconnection or the like is required.
