<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection system, etc., capable of appropriately detecting the specified position of a pointing device while preventing the generation of an unnatural image. SOLUTION: A shooting position is detected by detecting the scanning light of a display part by a photosensor built in a gun type controller 20. At the time of detecting scanning light, the photosensor executes processing for converting the luminance of all pixels into luminance equal to or more than a prescribed value while leaving the contrast of an image displayed on a display part. A pixel whose luminance is smaller than the prescribed value is processed so that the luminance becomes equal to or more than the prescribed value. The luminance conversion processing is made realizable by rewriting the contents of a gamma correction table or substituting a 2nd table for a 1st table. In addition, the luminance conversion processing is executed by utilizing the flyback time of the display part. When a player fires, the luminance conversion processing is executed, a shooting position is detected and then the luminance is returned to the original luminance.</p> |
