PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an electronic camera that can display superimposition display information such as photographing information displayed with a picture in an easy-to-see state and to provide a superimposition display method. SOLUTION: After photographing in a process P1, photographing information such as photographing date and time is acquired (P2), a part satisfying a prescribed condition nearly in the same color of a prescribed area or over within a search range is used for a display position of the photographing information (P3-P5). Furthermore, in the case that nearly the same color is the same as the display color of the photographing information, the display color of the photographing information is made different (P6), a display size of the displayed photographing information is decided depending on the size of nearly the same color (P7), the photographing information obtained by the P2-P5, the display position of the photographing information, the display color and the display size are recorded on a photographing information recording file of a storage memory such as a memory card (P8).
