Cosmetic compositions containing at least one cationic fructane and at least one conditioning agent in a cosmetically acceptable medium are new. The compositions comprise, in cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one cationic fructane, preferably containing amine group (0.05-10, preferably 0.1-5 wt.%) and at least one conditioning agent (0.001-20, preferably 0.01-10 wt.%). The composition may also contain at least one surfactant selected from anionic, nonionic and amphoteric surfactants and their mixtures, in concentration 0.1-60 (preferably 5-30) wt.% per total wt. of composition. The composition can be in form of shampoo or after-shampoo product, permanent wave or hair straightening mixture, hair dye or bleaching product, rinsing product for application between two stages of perming or straightening of hair, or body-shampoo product. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the use of composition for washing or treatment of keratin matter; (2) process of treatment of keratin matter such as hair, comprising application of composition as claimed and optional rinsing with water; and (3) use of fructane component as claimed in, or in preparation of, cosmetic composition comprising conditioning agent.
