PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply selective polling transmission to a plurality of data files through one communication by reading each transmission object data file registered in a transmission object file registration list and transmitting the file to a caller device. SOLUTION: A system control section 2 controls each section of the terminal while using an area for a work area of a RAM 4 according to a control program in a ROM 3. An image memory 7 temporarily stores image information read by a scanner 5 as a file for transmission of the information to a memory, temporarily stores received image information as a file until it is plotted by a plotter 6 and stores an image file for selective polling transmission. In this case, a code stream received by a caller device in terms of a prescribed file designation signal is sectioned by a specific breakpoint code to extract one or a plurality of generating selection numbers, which are registered in an extraction selection number table. Then each transmission object data file registered in a transmission object file registration list is read and transmitted to the caller device.
