摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an optical recording medium to adequately access desired tracks without the impairment of the reproduction modulation degree of pits by forming grooves formed in a reproduction-only region to a depth shallower than the depth of the grooves formed in a write enable region. SOLUTION: The depth d1 of the grooves 10 formed in the reproduction-only region R is made shallower than the depth d2 of the grooves 20 formed in the write enable region W. As a result, even if a track pitch is made narrower, the reproduction modulation degree may be obtained at a sufficient level and in addition, a tracking error of a sufficient level may be detected. The depth d3 of the pits 12 formed in the reproduction-only region R is previously made deeper than the depth d1 of the grooves 10. Namely, the deep pits 12 are formed between the shallow grooves 10 and information signals are previously recorded by these pits 12 in the reproduction-only region R. Management information, such as, for example, physical addresses of sectors, are recorded as the information relating to the recording tracks in the reproduction-only region R.
