PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an infrared detector consisting of composite unit infrared detecting elements and a manufacturing method of the same. SOLUTION: HgCdTe crystals each of which is equipped with contact electrodes 25 and 25a are attracted on a suction pad 21 and temporarily and relatively fixed at a position, oxidizing electrodes are brought into contact with the contact electrodes 25 and 25a of the HgCdTe crystals, the HgCdTe crystals and oxidizing electrodes are set in one piece with wax, and a protective oxide film is formed on the exposed part of the HgCdTe crystals, which are set in one piece as is with the oxidizing electrodes with wax.
