PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the currents respectively flowing to switching elements uniform, even if the size of a power unit is reduced by reducing the size of a booster transformer. SOLUTION: A power unit is provided with a DC power source 1, a plurality of switch means 6 and 7 which convert the output voltage of the power source 1 into an AC voltage, and a transformer 18 which is connected to the power source 1 through a tap and to the switch means 6 and 7 at primary-side both ends and outputs the AC voltage to the secondary side. In the power unit, a charging/discharging means 4 which charges/discharges the output current of the power unit 1 is connected, in parallel with the power unit 1 and a mean 5 which reduces the variation of the output current of the power source 1, or the discharging current of the charging/discharging means 4 is connected in series with the power source 1.
