The reflector (21,22,23) supports the bulb (10) transversely to the headlight's optical axis (xx). A wire clip (300) retains the bulb base in an aperture (204) within a housing (202) formed between the rear (21) and side (22) of the reflector, the electrical connector (14) projecting externally. The bulb, conjointly with the reflecting surfaces, forms an optical system producing, e.g. an anti-fog beam, restricted by a cut-off mask (15) fixed by a screw (16) to a mounting block (151) molded on the reflector side. The retaining clip (300) is bent from a single length of spring wire to provide two legs, passing on either side of the bulb base and ending in finger-press loops (302), which are connected by a transverse section lodged in a channel (152) integrally molded with the reflector. Each leg has a central knee (303) which is brought to bear on the bulb base flange, pressing it against bearing pads on the bulb aperture surround (201). (These pads ensure the correct orientation of the bulb filament (11), the surround having a slight misalignment for molding purposes). The leg ends (301) are secured in notches in the housing (202). Several variations are described.
