The method involves determining the dew point end from heat fed into the exhaust gas pipe from the vehicle's internal combustion engine. The actual heat (Qist) introduced into the exhaust pipe is determined from when the engine is started depending at least on the flow of exhaust gas and compared with a demand heat quantity (Qsoll = Q0) required for evaporating the condensate in the exhaust pipe.
