The rotary movement of the drive wheel (3) is converted through a threaded spindle (4) and spindle nut (5) into a swivel movement of the backrest (2). The rotary axis (4a) of the spindle runs parallel to or through the incline axis and during rotation of the spindle a scanning area (7b) is displaceable along a guide face (6c) inclined to the rotary axis. The scanning area is connected fixed to either the backrest or seat and the part of the seat which is not fixed to the scanning area holds the guide face immovable relative to this part.
