Mat consists of a binder-free multi-layered flat frame made of temperature-resistant fibers mechanically reinforced by closing seams. The fibers consist of a stacked fiber roving. The closing seams are formed by sewn fibers whose temperature resistance is smaller than the operating temperature of the mat. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the mat comprising pulling a stacked fiber roving in strands (4) from rolls (2), placing on a transporting device (3) moving across the pulling direction to form a multi-layered flat frame, and removing the frame from the transporting device.
